(Meaning you shoot and then move, but not the other way around)
Technically, we're talking about 'cinematic' use of pistols as well. Generally, they refer to various kinds of pistols. One-Handed Small Arms – These are single hand, small firearms that are compact and easy to use in close quarters. This means that you don't get all firearms for Exotic Weapon Proficiency (firearms). For all firearms, the below categories of weapons count as proficiency categories, rather than the ones given by the Pathfinder rules. Pathfinder book weapons won't have them listed as such, but all firearms will belong to one of these categories. New Weapon Categories – These, along with their properties, are taken directly from the Amethyst list. Likewise, we won't be making use of Amethyst's disruption effects or high-end special weapon abilities for the same reasons – In short, Pathfinder's actual weapon rules tend to make Gunslingers very underpowered, while Amethyst's combat rules put guns on par with other characters, but many of the advanced options push them from 'on-par' to 'way overpowered' when you throw in some of the crazier weapons.
This should hopefully have the affect of keeping firearms themselves in-line with the rest of Pathfinder in terms of balance, while maintaining the relatively minor flavor drawbacks that Pathfinder's original system has to it. We'll be using a combination of the Pathfinder rules regarding misfires and time-worn status, mixed with the general way that Amethyst handles the use of firearms.
